95% of locals satisfied with public transport services

According to a survey conducted by the Link Institute of Market Research in Lucerne, 95% of locals are satisfied with the services provided by public transport.

In all, 903 people from the canton were asked what they thought of the services provided in a telephone survey. Indeed, according to Hans-Kaspar Weber, the head of the Office of Public Transport, two-thirds of all those asked were very satisfied, with the reasons for this high level of satisfaction, namely the good connections and convenient timetables, being much as they were in a survey conducted in 2011.

With this high level of satisfaction, it is not surprising that the public transport system is very well used, with as many as 92% people making use of the services within the canton. The survey showed that two-thirds of people travel at least once a month by public transport with 46% of them travelling regularly at least once a week.

Reasons cited for not using public transport were, as one might expect, greater independency and flexibility as well as the shorter time needed.

However, the survey also revealed areas where the public thought improvements could be made, which mainly concerned (season) tickets. Despite this, Weber added, "It is clear we are on the right tracks if we are getting such positive feedback."
