Footpath by River Lorze awarded prestigious Flaneur d'Or prize

The municipality of Cham has been awarded the prestigious Flâneur d’Or prize for the pathway it created by the River Lorze two years ago.

This Flâneur d’Or prize, for exceptional footpath infrastructure, was awarded by the Swiss Walkers’ Association and the Swiss Pedestrian Organisation to the municipality for the way it had created this attractive three-and-a-half-kilometre riverside walkway between Cham and Hagendorn, adding to the surrounding network of footpaths. In particular, the jury commented on the reserved yet careful layout of the pathway and adjacent areas for relaxation

It was not surprising that Markus Baumann, the head of traffic and security in the municipality, was delighted with this national prize, which was awarded for the ninth time only this year. “It is great honour to have been given this prize,” he said, a path, which, incidentally, was eight years in the planning.

This prize is only awarded only every three years and, in addition to the aforementioned walkers’ organisations, is supported by the Swiss Federal Roads Office, the Signal AG company of Landquart and other agencies.
