Major work to upgrade Herti old people's home starts today

Major work to upgrade the facilities for residents at the Herti old people’s home starts today and is set to continue for five months.

Anyone passing by the old people’s home since the beginning of this month will have noticed that six large containers have been set up in the grounds. However, these are not, as one would expect, in direct connection with any new building, they actually contain kitchen facilities to ensure that the 120 residents will be able to be fed to the standards they are used to over this interim period.

New kitchen facilities have been necessitated as a result of new regulations concerning the preparation of meals in such residential homes, with other alterations having to be carried out to ensure the residence complies with current fire precaution regulations.

Not that all this will just take a couple of weeks; work on the new kitchen and other facilities is not planned to be completed until November.
