Might café be set up in former main post office

The company which is currently offering co-working space for small businesses in the former main post office in the city, Office Lab AG, now has plans for a café on the ground floor of the building.

At present, it is not sure whether this project will actually go ahead, as the results of a feasibility study in relation to it are not due until the end of this month, as Roger Krieg, the CEO of the afore-mentioned company confirmed. What is definite is that the tenancy agreement for this particular area of the building only comes into effect on 1 April and is of short duration only, i.e. until the end of 2019.

However, if it does go ahead, the café will offer seating for between 20 and 30, catering to be undertaken by a local company, with those using the co-working space, people who work nearby and tourists expected to be among the clientèle, though it will only open from late afternoon to early evening.

At to the furnishing of the café, in tune with its purpose for people to exchange ideas, there will be one large table around which people can sit, along with other seats and standing tables, all of a minimalistic and functional style. As for the post boxes as seen in the photograph, these are to be removed by the Die Post AG company, though some aspects of the buildings former use will be kept to assure a certain atmosphere is maintained.

As to how the letting of co-working space is going, Krieg was delighted to be able to report that the premises on the upper floor were all taken, with much interest shown in the remaining space. If the café does not materialise, then the area it would have occupied will also be used for more co-working spaces.
